O Blood and Water...
The Sung Chaplet
A 3 o'clock Prayer
Jesus, You Are Mercy
Hail, Most Merciful Heart of Jesus
The miraculous image of the Divine Mercy as shown on the cover of the CD, used by the kind permission of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, is a photograph of the painting as it hangs in the Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Cracow, Poland, where Saint Faustina Kowalska received her revelations and where her mortal remains rest as well. The texts of the recorded songs are based on the extracts of the "Diary" of St. Faustina.
The mission of Saint Faustina consists in three tasks:
- reminding the world of the truth of our faith revealed in Holy Scripture about the merciful love of God towards every human being, even the greatest sinner;
- entreating God's mercy for the whole world through the practice of new forms of devotion to the Divine Mercy; (1) Veneration of the image of the Divine Mercy with the inscription "Jesus, I trust in You' (2) Celebration of the feast of the Divine Mercy on the first Sunday after Easter (3) Recitation of the chaplet to the Divine Mercy (4) Prayer at the hour of mercy (3:00 pm) and (5) Spreading the devotion to the Divine Mercy.
- initiating the apostolic movement of the Divine Mercy which undertakes the task of proclaiming and entreating God's mercy for the world and strives for perfection in the spirit of trust in God, expressed in the fulfillment of His will, and the attitude of mercy towards one's neighbor.
This CD will help you keep that 3:00 habit! Track 1, the "Opening Prayer" is the prayer to be said at 3:00 and then it leads you through the Chaplet and other sung prayers from St. Faustina's diary (of course!).
All the songs from this CD are featured on the audio version of St. Faustina's Diary produced by the Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception of Stockbridge, MA.
Another interesting side effect is that her sung prayers will be trapped in my mind sometimes just as some contemporary song might remain there on other days. but the end result is me repeating a prayer constantly all day...
I also like her presentation because of how boldly she sings the prayers. No reservation. No measure. It's bold and intense, but quite pleasing. I honestly never before believed one could actually compose a melody for our common prayers that does the prayers justice. And considering the value and holiness of those prayers, I think most people avoid the attempt. But, WOW, this person achieved it.
I will definitely look into her other albums now."
